Description We are looking for a skilled Tax Senior Analyst to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with sales and use tax regulations across multiple states. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax analysis, audit defense, and accounting principles, along with the ability to conduct research and provide actionable insights to support business initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly tax compliance reports, including the analysis of general ledger accounts, variance analysis, and reconciliation processes.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to address tax-related inquiries, documenting outcomes effectively with guidance on complex issues as needed.
• Monitor changes in state tax legislation, assess impacts to the organization, and conduct research to support new business initiatives.
• Assist in defending against state and local audits, conducting research on new state and store requirements under management supervision.
• Perform various accounting activities, including account reconciliations, exemption reviews, and preparation of tax-related budgets.
• Implement tax rate updates and ensure adherence to changes in state sales and use tax laws.
• Support tax risk reduction efforts through detailed analysis and audit defense strategies.
• Provide tax-related insights and guidance to key business stakeholders to support organizational goals.
• Manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy. Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 2+ years of tax experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
• Proficient knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and experience working on multi-state audits.
• Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and indirect tax processes.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (with experience in creating macros) and Access.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to provide innovative solutions and express opinions confidently.
