Collections Specialist – East Longmeadow, MA

Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills? Do you have experience in collections and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Our client in East Longmeadow is seeking a Collections Specialist to join their fast-paced and growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Manage and maintain assigned accounts for collections and follow up on outstanding balances in a professional manner.

+ Conduct outbound calls, emails, and other communications with clients to reconcile accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.

+ Analyze account data to identify overdue balances, reconcile account issues, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

+ Accurately document collections activities and communications in the system.

+ Collaborate with internal departments, such as accounting and customer service, to resolve account-related issues efficiently.

+ Prepare and distribute statements, invoices, and collection notices as needed.

+ Continually meet or exceed individual and team performance metrics, including collections goals and response times.

Qualifications:

+ Proven experience as a Collections Specialist, Accounts Receivable Clerk, or in a similar role.

+ Strong understanding of collections processes and regulations.

+ Proficiency with accounting software and tools, such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, or other ERP systems.

+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

+ High attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple accounts simultaneously.

+ Comfortable making outbound collection calls and negotiating payment solutions.

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

+ Knowledge of relevant compliance regulations (e.g., FDCPA).

+ Prior experience in a business-to-business (B2B) or business-to-consumer (B2C) collections environment.

Requirements • Proven experience as a Collections Specialist or in a similar role.

• Strong knowledge of billing procedures and effective collection techniques, such as skip tracing.

• Familiarity with legal regulations related to debt collection.

• Proficiency in Excel and other Office tools, as well as database systems.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet performance targets.

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on negotiation.

• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a patient, stress-resilient demeanor.

• Experience with commercial collections is highly preferred.
