The **Leave & Compliance Manager** oversees the organization’s leave of absence programs and employee health compliance processes. This role ensures compliance with federal and state leave regulations (FMLA, ADA, state-paid leave, etc.), manages all phases of the leave lifecycle, and plays a key role in HR policy development and execution. Reporting to the VP of HR Operations, the Leave & Compliance Manager will serve as a subject matter expert and work collaboratively with HR Business Partners, payroll, clinical leaders, and legal to ensure a compliant and employee-centered approach.

Responsibilities Include:
Leave of Absence Management
+ Lead and manage all company leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, state paid leave programs, personal leave, military leave, and workers’ compensation in partnership with third-party administrators.
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws, as well as internal policies.
+ Serve as the escalation point for complex leave and accommodation cases.
+ Coach and advise HR Business Partners and leaders on leave processes, eligibility, and business impacts.
+ Identify and implement process improvements for leave administration, communication, and reporting.
+ Monitor leave trends and develop strategies to reduce leave-related disruptions.
Compliance Oversight
+ Own and maintain the HR compliance calendar for expirables such as TB tests, CPR certifications, medical licenses, and other health-related requirements.
+ Manage compliance tracking systems and partner with site leaders to ensure 100% compliance with required credentials.
+ Collaborate with Talent, Credentialing, and Clinical leadership to ensure policy alignment and operational readiness.
+ Participate in audits and support survey readiness for state, Joint Commission, Workers Compensation and payor audits.
Process Development & Policy
+ Partner with HR leadership to develop, revise, and implement leave and compliance policies and SOPs.
+ Lead communication and training efforts related to leave and compliance topics across the organization.
+ Stay current on relevant legislation, making proactive recommendations to update policy and practices as needed.
Leadership & Collaboration
+ Serve as a key partner in cross-functional projects related to employee well-being, compliance, and risk mitigation.
+ Provide education and training to field HR and business leaders.
+ Support M&A integration by assessing and aligning leave and compliance practices in newly acquired programs.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
+ 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with 2+ years focused on leave management and compliance.
+ Experience managing complex leave cases across multiple states; multi-state healthcare experience strongly preferred.
+ Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and applicable state leave and health credentialing requirements.
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
+ Experience with HRIS and compliance tracking systems (e.g., iCIMS, UKG, or similar).
+ Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and with empathy across all levels of the organization.
