    Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nurse Assistant / Mental Health Tech to join our team at the JSH-Medical Center. This full-time, regular/at-will position plays a critical role in supporting our licensed personnel in delivering high-quality patient care within our dynamic healthcare setting. As a Certified Nurse Assistant / Mental Health Tech, you will be responsible for a wide range of patient care tasks, ensuring that each individual's personal hygiene and daily living needs are met with dignity and respect. Your duties will include providing bedpans, baths, shampoos, and assisting with showers, as well as aiding patients with meals, ambulation, turning, and positioning. You will also be tasked with monitoring intake and output, checking vital signs and weight, collecting specimens, and providing post-mortem care when necessary. Comforting patients, answering call lights promptly, and reporting observations to the nursing staff are also key components of this role. You will be expected to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, contributing to the orientation of new employees, utilizing resources efficiently, and maintaining a safe and clean environment for both patients and co-workers. Transportation of patients and equipment may also be required. Your appearance and conduct must instill confidence in our patients, and you should demonstrate dependability through punctuality and consistent attendance. Good working relations with all personnel are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively. In specialized areas, you may perform additional tasks as defined by your training and written approval. Flexibility to accept reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients is a must. This role is vital in ensuring that Jennie Stuart Health maintains its commitment to delivering exceptional care and fostering a supportive and professional work environment.

    Required Skills

    + High School Graduate or GED equivalent.

    + Successful completion of Nurse Aide course or equivalent.

    + Active registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry (CNA).

    + Current BLS Certification—American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider).

    + Ability to provide personal hygiene and daily living assistance with sensitivity and respect.

    + Proficiency in performing intake and output, vital signs, weight checks, and specimen collection.

    + Capability to provide post-mortem care when necessary.

    + Strong interpersonal skills to comfort patients and respond to their needs promptly.

    + Effective team player in the delivery of care and in assisting with the orientation of new employees.

    + Efficient use of resources and materials, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

    + Ability to transport patients and equipment as appropriate.

    + Excellent communication skills to maintain good working relations among all nursing unit personnel and other hospital employees.

    + Willingness to perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to assigned area with specialized training.

    + Flexibility to accept reassignment to provide necessary care for all patients.

    Required Experience

    + Previous experience as a Mental Health Tech is essential.

    + Experience in a healthcare setting, providing direct patient care.

    + Familiarity with the healthcare environment and patient care protocols.

    + Proven track record of dependability in previous roles.

    + Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

    + Prior experience in maintaining a safe and clean work environment in a healthcare setting.

    + Experience with patient transportation and equipment handling within a medical center.

    + Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

    + Experience in specialized areas of patient care with the ability to perform additional tasks as trained and approved.
