The Mission of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement (LCLE) is to improve the operations of the criminal justice and juvenile justice system and promote public safety by providing progressive leadership and coordination within the criminal justice community.

We’re looking for an incumbent that is very detail-oriented and highly organized with great communication skills. The Criminal Victims Reparation section receives applications for reimbursement from victims of crime.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in criminal justice, policy planning or analysis, law enforcement, legal research, contracts or grants management, statistical analysis, or program auditing; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Assist in reviewing, under the broad direction of the CVR Program Manager, all Crime Victims Reparations sexual assault applications to ensure all required documents have been submitted and statutory requirements are met; prepares recommendations to award or deny claims based on CVR Board administrative rules and prior board actions; solicits and evaluates records and other pertinent information from health care providers and claims investigators, service providers; coordinates the initial processing and investigation of all claims by law enforcement investigative agencies; identifies and verifies the eligibility of claimants and evaluates data to validate claims; monitors all pending cases; closes completed claim applications according to standard office procedures.
+ Reviews claimed expenses to determine whether or not costs are crime-related and allowable; solicits appropriate documents as required by law or board rule to substantiate emergency awards; reviews collateral sources, computes payment amounts; prepares correspondence; coordinates the preparation and distribution of the victim notification forms to designated law enforcement agencies.
+ Participates in the drafting, designing and updating of program literature, (application, brochures, posters, etc.),assists in making necessary preparations and attends board-sponsored workshops and community sponsored activities involving victim services and resources, manages the archiving of Crime Victims reparations records, oversees printing needs for the program; participates in the ongoing development of the automated computer program.
+ Assists in developing more efficient ways to process claims and gathering statistical information. Participates in various research projects with other victim service organizations, conducts surveys and long-term planning.
+ Reviews and tracks proposed state and federal legislation, and evaluates its potential impact with regard to compliance with other state and federal requirements.
+ Attends in state and out of state training, seminars, conferences and workshops as determined by CVR Manager.
