This vacancy is located at the Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe , Louisiana.
The Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) serves youth who have been adjudicated delinquent or Families in Need of Services (FINS). We are responsible for youth assigned to our care by the court system, for either supervision or custody in residential placement or secure care. OJJ also provides services to youth under local court

Minimum Qualifications
+ Must have a valid Louisiana Guidance Counselor Certification
+ Candidates must have a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate which includes certification in the area of employment as specified by Bulletin 746, Revised, Louisiana Department of Education.
+ For teaching positions, there may be additions and alternatives to the above qualifications as the Office of Juvenile Justice may determine to be appropriate.
+ 50% of a teacher's evaluation will be based on professional practice (a qualitative measure) using the La. Components of Effective Teaching in conjunction with 50% on growth in student achievement.
+ Measures of student growth will be aligned with the Office of Juvenile Justice criteria in compliance with Bulletin 130 guidelines
+ For individuals with a disability, hiring decisions will be based on the individual's ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
+ Any college hours or degrees must be from a school accredited by one of the six regional accreditation organizations recognized by the US Dept. of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Job Specification
+ The primary responsibility of the Records Coordinator shall be counseling students and providing those services directly related to school counseling.
+ The Records Coordinator shall be responsible for the effective management of the school counseling department to which he/she is assigned.
+ The school counseling program shall be conducted in accordance with policies adopted by the Board of Education and with regulations and procedures of the district.

Job Duties:
+ Duties/Examples of Work (the below are examples and not all possible tasks are included)
+ Provide Academic Individualized Counseling for students.
+ Coordinate District and Statewide Testing at School Site.
+ Assists in implementing rules and policies.
+ Assumes outside classroom duties as assigned.
+ Exhibits interpersonal communication skills.
+ Coordinates Individual Graduation Plan process, as appropriate.
+ Coordinates and disseminates the information regarding graduation requirements and course descriptions, as appropriate.
+ Responds appropriately to supervision and accept commendations and recommendations.
+ Completes reports and records as assigned in a timely manner.
+ Participates in School Building Level Committee meetings and Individual Education Planning meeting.
+ Participates in professional development offerings and learning activities in order to maximize professional competence and knowledge.
+ Must possess adequate reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
+ Maintains Accurate Student Enrollment records in Student Data Base.
+ Maintains a high standard of professional conduct with the focus on ethics and confidentiality.
+ Must be able to work cooperatively with students, parents/guardians, school personnel, and the community (as applicable). Be able to occasionally lift 10-15 pounds.
+ Supports school programs and displays positive attitude.
+ Assumes additional responsibilities as the Principal may assign.
+ Performs class and duty assignments dependably and punctually.
+ Functions professionally and harmoniously with parents, school personnel, and students.
+ Requires regular attendance and punctuality.
+ Demonstrates sensitivity/understanding and interpersonal relations with persons of diverse culture and backgrounds.
+ Be able to move about the school site, as required for instructional, monitoring, and assessment purposes.
+ Projects well-groomed appearance and follows facility/agency dress code.
+ Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required.
+ Notifies principal in case of absence and communicates in advance the anticipated date of return.
+ Exhibits loyalty and maintains a positive attitude in the promotion of the school/facility/agency goals.
+ Provides for communication with students, facility staff, and parents (when required) outside the instructional day as determined by administrative policy.
