This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, staff position.
Salary commensurate with credentials and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Associate’s Degree
+ Five (5) years of work experience in an office environment, ideally within higher education in the academic area.
+ One (1) year of demonstrated work experience with computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Forms, Teams, and Adobe. Banner experience highly desirable.
+ Exceptional time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with faculty, staff, and current and prospective students.
+ Valid Driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
+ Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
+ Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 20 pounds.
+ Must be capable of sitting in a stationary position for 50% or more of work day.

Job Specification
The Student Advising & Recruiting Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting student success by serving as a primary academic advisor for new and continuing students in technical education programs within the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). These programs include Industrial Engineering Technology, Oil & Gas Technology, Electrician Technology, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and Advanced Welding, as well as the Division’s workforce development and noncredit training initiatives. Approximately 85% of the Specialist’s responsibilities are dedicated to providing personalized, strengths-based academic advising that helps students navigate their educational pathways, select appropriate courses, and remain on track toward graduation and credential completion.
The remaining 15% of the role supports targeted student recruitment and outreach, including participation in select off-campus events, enrollment campaigns, and efforts to raise awareness of the Division’s technical and workforce development programs. This position works closely with prospective and current students to ensure a smooth transition from interest to enrollment to success.
The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a heart for student success and support—helping students feel seen, heard, and equipped to reach their goals.
Job Duties and Other Information
Academic Advising – 85%
+ Serve as the primary academic advisor for students enrolled in technical programs within the Division of STEM, including Industrial Engineering Technology, Oil & Gas Technology, Advanced Welding, and Workforce Development/noncredit training programs.
+ Assist students in identifying academic and career goals, selecting appropriate courses, and developing academic plans aligned with credential completion and workforce readiness.
+ Provide proactive, holistic advising that incorporates strengths-based strategies, academic progress tracking, and early intervention to support student retention and success.
+ Monitor student academic performance and maintain accurate advising records using the institution’s student information and advising platforms (e.g., DegreeWorks, Banner, ConexED).
+ Collaborate with faculty, program directors, and workforce development staff to remain informed of program requirements, changes, and job market trends.
+ Support students with navigating college resources, including tutoring, financial aid, disability services, and career services, and make appropriate referrals when needed.
+ Serve as the first point of contact in a highly visible area, providing a welcoming and professional presence for students, faculty, industry partners, and visitors.
+ Track student inquiries, applications, enrollments, and completions to support recruitment and retention efforts.
+ Assist students with registration, onboarding, and access to training resources.
+ Assist in implementing marketing and promotional efforts for noncredit training opportunities.
+ Assist in coordinating student events, orientations, and career readiness initiatives.
+ Provide support for division-wide projects, initiatives, and professional development activities.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Recruitment & Outreach – 15%
+ Represent the Division of STEM at select recruitment and outreach events, including high school visits, community fairs, employer events, and workforce expos.
+ Provide prospective students with accurate, engaging information about technical and workforce programs, including pathways to employment and industry-based credentials.
+ Assist with follow-up communication and onboarding of prospective students to support conversion from inquiry to enrollment.
+ Collaborate with the college’s marketing and enrollment teams to develop materials and messaging that promote technical programs and noncredit training opportunities.
Track and report on recruitment efforts and outcomes, providing feedback to improve strategies over time.
