    Overview Hospice Physician Per Diem Good Shepherd Hospice is looking for a compassionate, dedicated per diem Hospice Physician to work in our inpatient hospice units as well as the community hospice setting. Job Details The Hospice Physician works collaboratively with the Medical Director and other Hospice Physicians and is responsible for the medical care of patients on program. Responsibilities will include: Assumes responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day medical care of Hospice patients. Is available for consultation with the primary care physicians. Provides supervision and gives orders for patients whose physician is unavailable or unable to manage a particular symptom or issue. Admits or arranges admissions to inpatient units. Participates in patientcare decisions, including admissions, eligibility assessments, discharge, change of status, transfer from one care setting to another and certifications/re-certifications. Participates in the development, review and modification of comprehensive plans of care with other members of the Interdisciplinary team. Provides Physician approval on DNR orders, death certificates, change of status orders, medication orders and narcotic prescriptions. Provides home visits as necessary. Educates the clinical members regarding the medical management of individual patients, observing trends in treatment practices and new findings of medical research. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements: Current license to practice medicine in New York State. Current Controlled Substance Registration Certificate and Infection Control certificate. Graduation from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy or ECFMG Certification. Board certification in a primary medical specialty, internal medicine or family practice preferred. Subspecialty certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred; eligibility for Board. Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine or Hospice Medical Director Certification required. At least two years of postgraduate direct patient care in the absence of fellowship training in Hospice & Palliative Medicine. Salary Range USD $113.00 - USD $135.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job, and it does not include the value of benefits.
