    Position Overview:

    Applying the principles of the nursing process and working within the policies/procedures of the Patient Care Services Department and the Medical Center, the staff nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who, as the patient's primary nurse, is responsible and accountable for:

    * The overall management of the nursing care provided, assuring competent, compassionate and cost­-effective patient care from admission to discharge;

    * Assuring the safety, comfort, personal hygiene and protection of patients and performing disease prevention and restorative measures;

    * Responding to medical and environmental emergencies

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    In addition to duties and responsibilities of Staff Nurse II position description, the Interventional Radiology (IR) staff nurse is a significant member of the

     

    angio team. The IR nurse is responsible for all aspects of the patient care in the procedure suite; including physical assessment, ECG, oximetry, invasive and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring.

     

    This position will be under the direction of the IR Charge Nurse for coordinating all aspects of patient care. The IR nurse will work collaboratively with the other members of the team, including the Interventional Radiologists, Charge Nurse, X-Ray Technologists and scrub technicians.

     

    The nurse will be a resource person to the x-ray staff, to the nurses of the Recovery Room, Surgery Center, and other nursing units within the hospital. As a member of the interventional team, the nurse will be required to take call on weeknights and weekends for emergency cases.

     

    This staff member may be responsible for circulating throughout the Imaging Department, starting IV's, pre-medicating for procedures, taking vital signs and applying other nursing interventions as needed.

     

    Performs all nursing aspects relating to cardiovascular special procedures, including patient and family education, and complies with all JCAHO and DHS regulations. Provides oversight and direction for the clinical care of the patient through all aspects of the procedure, circulates and assists during cardiovascular procedures under the direct supervision of the operating cardiologist or radiologist. Additional skills not required at time of hire include scrub and recorder duties.

    EDUCATION

    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required.

     

    BSN Preferred.

    LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS

    Registered Nurse - CA State Licensure - RN Required

     

    Basic Life Support Certification - BLS Required

     

    Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS Required

    EXPERIENCE

    Two years experience as a nurse in an acute care setting, prefer ICU, ER or dialysis Required. Three years Preferred. Recent Cardiac or Intensive care experience desired. Knowledge of surgical sterile technique and sedation monitoring Required. Recent experience in an interventional/cardiac cath lab setting preferred.

    Pay Range is $76.20 to $103.10 / hour

     

    _The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package._
