    Purpose of Position

     

    We are looking for a hands-on machinist to help build prototype parts in our lab. This person will run manual machines (like lathes and mills), operate a CNC brake press, a CNC laser cutter, and help manage inventory for common stock materials such as metal bars, plates, and sheet stock. The role supports engineers by making parts quickly and keeping materials organized for ongoing projects. Sponsorship and relocation support is not provided.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Use manual lathe and mill to cut and shape parts.

    + Set up and run CNC brake press to bend sheet metal.

    + Operate CNC laser to cut parts from metal and plastic sheets.

    + Read and follow engineering drawings and basic instructions.

    + Measure and inspect parts using tools like calipers and micrometers.

    + Help improve part designs to make them easier to machine or bend.

    + Track and organize common stock materials (metal, plastic, sheet, and bar).

    + Label materials and keep storage areas clean and orderly.

    + Follow all lab safety rules and wear proper protective gear.

     

    Skills and Responsibilities

     

    + 5+ years of experience with manual machining and brake press operation.

    + Comfortable reading drawings from engineer and using measuring tools.

    + Knowledge of metal and plastic stock types.

    + Good organization skills for managing inventory.

    + Able to work on short deadlines and switch between tasks.

    + Works well with others and follows safety procedures.

     

    Working Conditions

     

    The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment. There may be some work in a manufacturing environment and exposure to the elements of our factory. Additionally, there may be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities.
