    Unit: 7D Rehab, a CARF accredited Unit

     

    Hours: Monday through Friday Daylight, with 24/7 Accountability.

     

    The Unit Director holds 24/7 accountability for leading their assigned area to deliver exceptional patient and employee experiences. They oversee clinical and administrative functions, drive quality care improvements, foster a positive work environment, and support professional development. Key duties include collaborating with medical staff to monitor outcomes, advancing safety through shared governance, hiring and onboarding staff, managing performance, and guiding budget and operational decisions.

    Responsibilities:

    + The Unit Director is expected to lead and develop all Clinicians that report directly to them to build strong leadership and communication skills, as well as mentorship in daily leadership responsibilities.

    + Supports Clinicians in their role of oversight of direct reports, including difficult conversations, performance reviews, and recruitment.

    + Leads patient care quality and safety initiatives through collaboration with medical staff and evidence-based practices.

    + Monitors unit metrics to meet organizational goals, sharing improvements across departments.

    + Analyzes satisfaction data and develops action plans for quality enhancement.

    + Fosters staff involvement in governance and innovation, promoting a culture of diversity, inclusion, and continuous growth.

    + Supports team wellness with thoughtful scheduling and conflict resolution.

    + Communicates effectively and transparently with stakeholders and builds strong internal and external relationships.

    + Drives departmental vision using critical thinking, financial analysis, and staff engagement.

    + Advocates for patient-centered care within a Relationship-Based Care model, aligning clinical practices with professional standards.

    + Oversees budget and resource use, adapts staffing patterns, and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize care.

    + Champions staff excellence through mentorship, specialty certification, and nurse/student development.

    + Assist with planning, implementing, and verifying that all direct care providers and direct care staff have the required knowledge and skills/attitude-based competencies assessed to address gaps and verified.

    + BS/BSN required at time of hire and Masters degree/MSN required.

    + If BS degree not in nursing, a Masters or higher degree in Nursing is required.

    + If Masters degree not in nursing, a BSN is required.

    + If the Masters degree/MSN is not present at time of hire, must be enrolled in a Masters or MSN program within one year of hire/transfer date and completed within three years of enrollment.

    + Requires a minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience, with clinical expertise preferred.

    + Certification Preferred

    + Previous Rehab experience preferred

    + Strong analytical skills to evaluate staff, resolve clinical challenges, and generate strategic solutions.

    + Proven leadership in setting nursing performance standards and aligning with national practices.

    + Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to foster a healing environment and collaborate effectively across all levels, including senior leadership

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state.

    + CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Act 33 / Act 34 / Act 73 with renewal

    *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
