    What You’ll Do as An Instrument Person

     

    + Operate advanced surveying equipmentincluding total stations, data collectors, levels, scanners, and GPS to support topographic, boundary, ALTA, construction stakeout, and utility surveys.

    + Prepare and clear survey linesby cutting brush, trees, or other obstructions using tools such as machetes, brush hooks, or chainsaws.

    + Read and interpret maps and plansto ensure accurate data collection and alignment with project specifications.

    + Complete accurate, well-organized field notes and sketchesto document fieldwork clearly and professionally.

    + Maintain and care for surveying equipment—keep it clean, dry, and promptly report any damage or malfunction to the Party Chief.

    + Charge and manage all equipment batteriesto ensure everything is ready for use each day.

    + Keep the survey vehicle stocked and clean, ensuring all necessary tools and supplies are available and the truck is swept and organized.

    + Maintain the equipment and supply roomby keeping it clean, organized, and well-stocked with essential items like flagging, paint, caps, lath, and rebar.

    + Coordinate with other teams and service linesto support overall project goals and deadlines.

    + Support the Party Chiefby assisting with daily tasks and responsibilities as needed.

    Hourly Range$25 to $28 per hour

     

    Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications/education, and other factors.     Requirements

    What You Bring, Your Expertise as an Instrument Person

     

    + High School Diploma or GED required

    + Associate’s degree of applied Science in Surveying, Geomatics or related degree preferred

    + Experience with Leica GPS, Scanning, and Total Station systems preferred.

    + 1-3 years of surveying experience preferred.

    + Knowledge of basic mathematical principles, land surveying terminology, and field survey methods and techniques.

    + Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.

    + Must possess a valid driver’s license and drive a company vehicle.

    + Must be able to travel on a regular basis to project sites located throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York.

    + Ability to sit, stand, walk and traverse uneven grounds

    + Able to work in physically challenging outdoor environments in all types of weather.
