Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Responsibilities The incumbent serves as a Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Labor & Employee Relations (L/ER) Technician, responsible for coordination of L/ER matters for MCCS Twentynine Palms. Performs technical and administrative support work in one or more personnel areas such as performance management, employee relations, labor relations, and EEO. Typical assignments include (1) gathering facts involving routine disciplinary or work performance issues, discussing issues with managers and employees, and assisting in drafting reprimands and disciplinary actions (2) providing assistance in administering assigned employee benefits programs such as Workers Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Leave Donations, Casualty Assistance, and Employee Performance Awards Program; and (3) assisting with grievance processing, maintaining records, and coordinating communication between management and the union. Assists L/ER department by gathering documentation, coordinating meetings, and supporting fact-finding efforts related to workplace disputes. May assist supervisors by explaining routine L/ER procedures and preparing draft correspondence to support resolution of issues between management, employees, and/or the union. Keeps the Human Resources Director and L/ER Lead informed of ongoing matters as applicable. Assists in collecting and compiling data on labor and employee relations activities, preparing summary reports, and supporting evaluations of program effectiveness through review of records, reports, and feedback. This position may also be responsible for drafting local procedural instructions relating to the functional specialty. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources or a related field appropriate to work of the position, OR three years of practical experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position OR an appropriate combination of education and experience equivalent to that gained in the above. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate orally and in writing. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate/track multiple projects/taskers simultaneously. Must have the ability to lead others in the completion of administrative tasks. Proficiency in data entry and the use of standard office software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe is required.
