The Silicon Software Team (SST) is part of the Wearables Silicon Team. Our custom silicon turns our aspirations into reality for our AR and AI products. We are challenging the laws of physics. The team’s mission is to build and deliver key foundational embedded software components that vertically integrate with our custom silicon to enable unparalleled user experiences. Our Core Embedded Framework forms the foundation of our innovation, carried across multiple generations. It is designed and built from the ground up to be highly optimal, with energy efficiency and real-time performance in mind.You will be part of the team that brought Orion to the world and will be working with a team of world-class experts in developing and shipping products.As a Software Engineering Manager on the Silicon Software Team at Meta, you can help build new, innovative hardware and software that radically redefines the way people work, play and connect. Required Skills:

Embedded Software Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

1. Grow teams of domain experts to deliver components at cross layers of the system, e.g. power, thermal, kernel, synchronization primitives, resource allocators, memory management, etc

2. Manage a team of technology experts, help develop their growth and careers tailored to long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles

3. Own the definition and KPI/metrics of one or more work streams focused on hardware bringup, silicon integration, and power and performance management and optimization

4. Understand software components from multiple partner teams, lead the integration of those components into the unified product code base, and drive their continued development

5. Profile power and thermal problems and drive optimizations that span the entire software stack and multiple hardware/firmware/software teams

6. Develop the vision and strategy to help set direction for the team, while staying on top of the day-to-day software development

7. Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams

Minimum Qualifications:

8. Bachelor of Science/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

9. 2+ years of experience in managing a team of engineers with varied skill levels

10. 2+ years experience defining and driving technical work streams and providing technical leadership for software engineering teams

11. 6+ years of software engineering work experience, including hands on technical management

12. Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, and leading technical organizations, including performance management

13. Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring, and developing software engineers

14. Experience in one or more of the following areas: BSP/Board Support Package, Operating Systems, Android OS, RTOS, Bootloader, Power Management, MCU (Microcontroller), DSPs (Digital Signal Processors)

15. Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools

16. Demonstrated specialized experience in two or more of the following areas: Board Support Package, Operating Systems, CoreOS, Kernel, Bootloader, Power Management, RTOS, Drivers, MCU (Microcontroller), DSPs (Digital Signal Processors), Communications (IPC, USB, PCIe, I3C, SPI)

17. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams

18. Working experience in developing optimized embedded software for custom SoCs

Public Compensation:

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
