Position Summary
The Manager of Efficiencies & Innovations (MEI) position creates efficiencies and process optimization
by leading improvements at multiple Big River ethanol sites. The Manager of Efficiencies and
Innovations will partner with multiple Big River sites and their teams while reporting to the Director of Operational Strategy.
Essential skills and experience
+ Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
+ Relevant work experience, typically at least 4 years
+ Prior leadership and project management
+ DCS control and DCS historian systems, working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
+ Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
+ Embracer of change
+ Ability to understand technical and day to day operation of a bioprocessing facility
+ Understand the basics of Microsoft Office Suite
Reporting to this position: None
Position Responsibilities
+ Performs activities related to the design, modification and operation of process equipment in the ethanol plant
+ Reviews the process equipment/data and takes action to improve plant operations
+ Manages projects from conception through completion including the development, design and execution of capital, expense and maintenance projects in a safe and efficient manner
+ Provides oversight of the plant operation by reviewing, studying, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting the plant systems and equipment and provides recommendations
+ Analyzes and interprets data for opportunities to improve production, efficiencies, yields and operating costs
+ Generate reports summarizing findings
+ Improves the process by implementing changes in operations, controls, equipment, procedures, parameters, operational theory and other related items
+ Prepares justification, cost estimates and other project documents as required for approval
+ Develops technical specifications to procure equipment and services
+ Provides oversight of installation, startup and performance testing of multiple projects concurrently
+ Performs design work and supervision for other assigned tasks to ensure they are completed safely, accurately and efficiently
+ Supports maintenance and operations as a technical resource
+ Provides support and expertise in shutdown planning and execution
+ Completes other requirements for compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management Regulations including but not limited to the maintenance of documentations such as MOCs, P&IDs, isometrics, and equipment specifications
+ Perform PHA audit
+ Lead energy efficiency programs to acquire available rebates
+ Up to 50% travel will be part of the norm for this position to visit facilities and attend meetings
+ Overnight travel will be required
