Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
+ Performs casting placement and removal
+ Performs closed reductions and application of well-molded casts, with the use of c-arm as needed
+ Applies durable medical equipment for patients in all settings
+ Provides patient education resources to patients and families
+ Assists Orthopedic Surgeons and APPs, as needed, in inpatient, outpatient and surgical settings
+ Takes ownership for patient orders and entry of charges; documents patient care provided in the electronic health system
+ Maintains all needed supplies for casting; May have ordering responsibilities for the department
+ Accountable for meeting the standards of patient/personal safety and in maintaining a clean and therapeutic environment
+ Maintains patient information and documentation of care delivery in electronic medical record
+ Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights
+ Supports hospital and departmental performance improvement goals
+ Provides quality care through compliance with departmental and organizational policies and guidelines, and external agency guidelines, standards, or regulations
+ Supports departmental initiatives and change efforts
+ Practices financial and resource stewardship
+ Engages in strong communication, acts as team player in supporting mission and vision of organization, and abides by organization’s core values
+ Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
+ High school diploma or equivalent required
+ Orthopedic Technologist certification is preferred; relevant previous experience may be accepted
+ Orthopedic casting experience and fracture care experience preferred
+ BLS certification required

+ Physical Requirements: Lifting/Carrying, Pushing/Pulling, Repetitive Movement, Stooping/Kneeling/Bending
+ An Individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight in this group: up to 10bs
+ Sensory/Communicative activities essential to the performance of this position: Feeling, Hearing, Seeing, Smelling, Speaking
+ An Individual in this position will be exposed to: Inside environment, Bloodborne pathogens, Chemical Hazards, Respiratory Hazards
