Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and motivated FinOps Sr Analyst to advance cloud cost transparency, financial accountability, and optimization across a multi-cloud environment. This role plays a key part in the integration of FinOps and Technology Business Management (TBM) practices—enabling full-spectrum visibility into technology costs and ensuring alignment between cloud financial operations and broader IT financial management strategies.

This role will work cross-functionally with Cloud Engineering, Finance, Product, and Procurement teams, this position delivers actionable insights to support strategic planning, forecasting, and value realization. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, knowledge of cloud cost structures, and experience working across both technical and financial domains.

The Information Technology Cloud Engineer works to ensure that enterprise cloud solutions are designed, delivered, and supported. May develop internal and external compatibility of the system and subsystems. Develops moderately complex scripts using a tool or combination of tools to automate a task or a series of tasks. Develops and complies with SLAs or OLAs. Documents new or modified solutions, installation instructions, and other system-related information. Writes configuration for cloud platforms leveraging appropriate tools. Collaborates with developers and is responsible for the "Ops" part of DevOps. Develops and maintains tools and frameworks that other teams use to smoothly develop their applications. May use technology to implement automation and orchestration. Develops, builds, or implements cloud solutions based on business and technology considerations to satisfy customer needs. Works to integrate cloud solutions with existing enterprise tools and systems. Ensures compliance of cloud solutions to architectural standards. Performs evaluations of enterprise cloud technology standards, tools, products, and solutions to identify opportunities for improvement. Works with information security to ensure Cloud solutions support maintenance of a secure technology environment. Assists with planning and validating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Cloud solutions. Supports compliance of role-based access control (RBAC), cost containment and cloud provider account management. Assists in developing time and cost estimates for cloud solutions. May develop, review, and modify Cloud systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Participates in evaluation of technical requirements to determine the impact of Cloud technologies on the infrastructure including equipment redundancy and capacity requirements. Supports and maintains the physical design for cloud-based solutions for infrastructure and platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 3 years’ experience with 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience, or Associate’s degree with 5 years’ experience with 1 years demonstrated leadership experience, or HS/GED with 7 years of experience in a large, complex organization like Mayo Clinic may be considered in lieu of the degree.

Experience deploying and operating on a public cloud framework. Ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to build collaborative working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders. Strong analytical ability and data-driven mindset. Ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge and skills. Familiarity with service design and pricing in the context of cloud-based solutions. Experience with cloud deployment, technical and security architecture, database architecture, virtualization, software design, software development, IP networking, Linux, Agile development, SCRUM, application lifecycle management, .NET, programming languages, technical solution architecture, SOA, Windows Azure, Amazon AWS.

**A GCP or Azure cloud certification and/or FinOps Certified Practitioner, FinOps FOCUS Analyst and/or Engineer certification is required within 12–24 months of hire.** The **FinOps Professional certification is recommended** as the practice matures. Familiarity with TBM frameworks, or ITFM concepts is considered an asset.
