Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Lead Surgical Technologist, you will accept overall responsibility for a designated surgical area of specialty. You will ensure all equipment and instruments are operational, and organize all equipment, supplies, and instruments. You will facilitate the safe and effective completion of invasive surgical procedures. You will train staff and serve as a preceptor for less experienced surgical technologists in the preparation of complex cases, as well as room preparation and turnover.

+ You will assist in and oversee specialty tasks performed by Surgical Technologists to ensure the unit is provided with supplies, instruments, and necessary equipment for service-specific procedures within budget and to par levels

+ You will troubleshoot and train staff on proper usage of equipment

+ You will be responsible for advance preparation of future procedures

+ You will update policies and procedures, update staff on new processes, and obtain preferences from service-specific physicians

+ You will assemble and prepare sterile setup of supplies and instruments used for surgical procedures

+ You will assist with room turnover and restock unused supplies and equipment

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

+ 4 years of recent experience as a Surgical Technologist with demonstrated competency in multiple inpatient surgical specialties

+ Experience in cardiovascular and endovascular specialties required

Education

+ Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (vocational school graduate)

Licenses and Certifications

+ Certification as a Surgical Technologist

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
