    **Work Schedule:** 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 4:30:00 PM)

    **Pay Range:** $32.00 - $52.08 per hour

    Summary:

    The Manager, Spiritual Care and Mission will participate in and oversee the provision of spiritual and emotional care for patients, families, and staff. They will supervise and

     

    coordinate the assignments and work of the staff chaplains. Prepares the schedule for on-call chaplains and ensures provision of spiritual care 24/7.They will prepare and

     

    manage an annual budget; will participate in leadership meetings and activities; lead and participate in hospital committees, co-chair the Ethics Committee; provides and leads

     

    ethical consults in collaboration with physician co-chair; is actively involved in interdisciplinary rounds on in-patient units. Participates and provides education on spiritual care

     

    and ethics for staff and in the community as needed. The Director will facilitate spiritual well-being by assisting patients, families, staff, and the wider community to cope and

     

    identify sources of meaning and hope in their experience of life transitions, inclusive of suffering, loss and grief, by drawing upon their values and beliefs in the context of their

     

    life story. The Director will also participate in the varied activities that promote a culture of engagement within the hospital and System, and the broader community

    Required Job Qualifications:

    •Master’s Degree in: Theology, Pastoral Studies, Religion, Divinity, Pastoral Counseling

    •Must be a Board-Certified Chaplain with a nationally recognized organization

    •Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a hospital chaplain

    •Computer skills: must be computer literate and able to use or learn programs necessary to preform duties.

    •Have a valid driving license

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • A history of management experience, team leadership, committee chair

    • Experience leading Ethics consult

    Responsibilities:

    • Follows ROPH Policies and Procedures.

    • Respects and follows ROPH's Compliance and HIPAA Regulations as they apply to Privacy and Confidentiality.

    • Exhibit and promote sensitivity to people in keeping with Rush’s DEI cultural

    • Oversees and ensures 24/7 Chaplaincy coverage for the hospital

    • Provide direct chaplain care to patients and families

    • Provide chaplain care to all employees and contribute to a Wellness Culture for staff

    • Attends and facilities family care conferences

    • Adheres to Departmental guidelines related to Patient Care activities in the performance of duties and responsibilities of the position.

    • Provide and oversee the provision of spiritual and emotional support to patients, family and staff

    • Overview of All inpatients – Review All In-patient population and prioritize visits for Spiritual Assessments and needs

     

    Palliative Care support - Advocating for patients and families towards appropriate levels of interventions, leading palliative care conversations and helping patients/families

    and colleagues navigate end-of-life decision-making

    • Ethics Committee co-chair, conducts consults, communicates with provides, and records the consults recommendations in EPIC.

    • Provides advance directives education and completion to patients/families – both in-patient and out-patient settings

    • New nursing orientation presentations

    • New Grad Education Program class

    • Provide support to colleagues at the time of the loss of a loved one, including sending out Notice of Death as requested

    • Participate in ROPH out-patient programs as requested such as Project Lifestyle and Pulmonary Rehab

    • Participates on hospital committees, taking leadership as appropriate.

    • Participate on RUMC committees as requested

     

    Oversees the flow of deceased bodies out of the Morgue by supporting the family in choosing a funeral home; liaison with Funeral Home to ensure necessary death

     

    certificate information is supplied; supporting ROPH physicians in the complication of death certificates; following up with funeral home to ensure the body is picked up in a

     

    timely manner

     

    •

     

    Autopsies – connect with RUMC Pathology to ensure correct documents are signed and faxed to Pathology; and to organize transport to RUMC. Keeping family apprised of

     

    the process as needed

     

    •

     

    • Offer rituals to the facility staff, patients, and family members as appropriate and when requested

    • Offer reflection to the Medical Staff at the Quarterly Meetings and on other occasions as requested

    • Provides educational opportunities - including nursing certification classes, community lectures, conference presentations.

    • Recommend quality and/or performance improvement initiatives to promote the provision of spiritual care.

    • Organize religious services and observances within the hospital as needed

    • Acts as a liaison between local clergy on behalf of patient/family

    • Oversee the care of the environment in the worship space and chapel

    • Account for chapel donations

    • Oversee the provision of office supplies and care of the offices

    • Oversee the provision of materials and supplies of religious goods for patients and staff

    • Ensure data collection on chaplain involvement in Goals of Care to enable future planning and provision of spiritual care

    • Maintain a record of chaplain-on-calls to provide continuity of care and data collection
