Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Congressional and Public Affairs Office (N02P), Office of the Chief of Staff (N02) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND. Responsibilities You will assist the Director in conducting a comprehensive congressional and public affairs program. You will provide day-to-day strategic guidance and direction to the headquarters congressional and public affairs staff. You will assist in supervising preparation of magazine articles for publication in journals and trade press magazines that report on merchant marine and defense issues and highlight command and/or employee achievements. You will perform duties as the Deputy Director of Congressional and Public Affairs, providing supervision and direction to a 12-person staff, including local and geographically separated public affairs specialists. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Expert experience operating within the principles, methods, and techniques of communication with congressional stakeholders, public affairs, and related communities; expert experience developing written and audiovisual materials that effectively convey information about complex programs and functions; expert experience delivering oral presentations to explain various programs, functions, and activities, backed by a deep understanding of these program and their operations; expert experience establishing public affairs standard across the command.
