Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Attorney to join our team in Chicago, Illinois, on a long-term contract basis. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in supervising legal work within a law school clinic while fostering collaborations with the community and university stakeholders. The role is ideal for someone passionate about transactional law, intellectual property, and advancing social and economic justice.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and guide student legal work within the clinic, including assisting clients with business formation, incorporation, and navigating regulatory registrations.

• Review and provide feedback on legal documents such as contracts and agreements drafted by students.

• Offer consultation and perform research on intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyrights.

• Collaborate with the Center Director to develop partnerships within the university and surrounding community.

• Lead workshops and seminars aimed at educating and engaging stakeholders on legal topics.

• Assist with writing grant proposals to secure funding for clinic initiatives.

• Contribute to service projects within the School of Law, university, and local community.

• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the clinic’s work and outreach efforts.

• Support the administration of the clinic by ensuring compliance with legal and institutional standards. Requirements • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

• Active license to practice law in Illinois and in good standing.

• Extensive experience in transactional law and intellectual property legal matters.

• Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice principles.

• Previous experience in teaching or supervising students in a legal clinic setting.

• Strong ability to manage collaborations and lead workshops.

• Familiarity with case management and document management software.

• Preferred qualifications include at least five years of significant legal practice experience.
