Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Web-Based Principal Software Engineer to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This role, based in Colorado Springs, CO, is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position, and this role is on-site with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is the central element of the Missile Defense System. It is a crucial operational system that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control designated networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that provides an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases.
C2BMC acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance performance. Additionally, C2BMC is an essential component of all system ground and flight tests, which verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.
This position supports the C2BMC program in Colorado Springs, CO. It is a mid-level role in configuration management, software, and web development, supporting the Tools Development and Management Lead and the IT teams. The lead oversees responsibilities, including maintaining existing applications and developing user interfaces and tools for internal use on C2BMC.
Essential Functions:
+ Responsible for understanding documented requirements, implementing solutions, and conducting unit testing of the tools and code
+ Knowledge and experience with configuration management, software, and web development
+ Experience with platforms and tools should include:
+ **PHP**
+ **Apache and IIS web servers**
+ **MySQL**
+ **Oracle**
+ **JavaScript**
+ **RHEL Linux**
+ **Eclipse and/or Java Beans**
+ **Sphinx**
+ **ClearQuest**
+ **Memcached**
+ Experience with Relational, Graph, or Document databases
+ Familiarity with TypeScript, Docker, Elastic, Bootstrap, and Jira
+ Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD)
+ Experience setting up Jenkins builds
+ Proficiency with software security tools, including HP Fortify and SonarQube
+ Experience with microservices, Swagger, and API definitions
+ Demonstrated use of Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) and configuration management (Git) Bitbucket
Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 1 years of related experience with a PhD. Or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
+ Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
+ Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs
+ DoD 8140 certification at **IAT Level II or higher** (Security+ CE, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA Security, etc.) is required to start
+ Must possess knowledge of web-based software development and user interface design
+ Experience with a framework for developing web applications, such as:
+ **Angular** or **React**
+ Proficiency in:
+ **Java**
+ **HTTP**
+ **JavaScript/JSON**
+ **CesiumJS Open Source JavaScript library**
+ **WildFly/JBoss AS application server**
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Prior work on DoD contracts, performing tools, and web development is a significant plus
+ Knowledge and experience with configuration management, software development, and web development are highly desired
+ Experience with DevOps and/or DevSecOps is a plus

Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
