Overview
This position partners with the accounting and finance team to maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger system as well as related sub-systems and to assist with the preparation of financial reports, regulatory reports and other external reports. Responsibilities are similar to Staff Accountant I with the expectation for this position to demonstrate enhanced level of understanding of departmental responsibilities and analytical abilities.
Responsibilities
+ Balance and maintain general ledger accounts.
+ Process various journal entries including but not limited to: accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid assets, and accrual accounts.
+ Assist in the accounts payable process, including processing of approved invoices, creating intercompany billings and posting entries as appropriate, and maintaining accounts payable records.
+ Assist with month-end closing process, including recording appropriate journal entries, performing variance analysis, and reviewing/preparing reconciliations as well as assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements for management and Board reporting.
+ Develop, implement and maintain procedures for Accounting and Finance departments.
+ Assist with establishing and maintaining internal controls over financial reporting and with responding to requests from internal and external auditors and examiners.
+ Assist in quarterly preparation of financial reports for regulatory and SEC reporting as well as in the annual budgeting process.
+ Provide recommendations for improvement of day to day accounting processes.
+ All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ An Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
+ Minimum of two (2) years’ accounting experience. Related banking experience is preferred.
+ Proficient reading, writing, mathematical, and analytical skills. Ability to prepare detailed written instructions and documentation.
+ Ability to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and suggest solutions.
+ Proficient PC skills; strong Microsoft Office skills including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
+ Ability to work independently and in team environment.
+ Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills.
+ Ability to appropriately plan and organize; administer and prioritize; monitor and evaluate the work flow of projects and activities.
