Job Title: Backend Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experiencedSoftware Engineer to join our infrastructure and transportation AI team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain our extensive data ingestion pipelines to ensure the continuous and reliable flow of image, video, and GIS data into our cloud-based data stores. You will also implement and manage data workflows using Apache Airflow to automate, schedule, and monitor data pipelines, ensuring efficient data processing and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

+ Design, develop, and maintain data ingestion pipelines for cloud-based data stores.

+ Implement and manage data workflows using Apache Airflow.

+ Automate, schedule, and monitor data pipelines for efficient data processing.

+ Ensure continuous and reliable data flow of massive datasets.

+ Collaborate with the team to optimize data workflows and pipelines.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Python and Scala.

+ Experience in data engineering and distributed systems.

+ Strong understanding of multi-threaded programming.

+ Expertise in at least one cloud technology: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

+ Experience with API development and ETL pipelines.

+ Capability to organize large amounts of data for scalable solutions.

+ Minimum of 4 years of experience in backend development.

+ Understanding of Kubernetes and deployment of distributed data pipelines.

+ Fundamental knowledge of machine learning.

Candidates need to be able to answer these screening questions:

+ How do you scale a database?

+ How do you replicate a production environment?

+ When there is data coming from multiple sources how do you improve it?

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Kubernetes and machine learning fundamentals.

Work Environment

The team is primarily based in Salt Lake City, with a hybrid work environment for local candidates. If located outside of Salt Lake City, occasional travel to the office once a month for 3 to 4 days is required. This position offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of AI within a startup-like environment inside a larger, stable company, primarily serving state, county, and city infrastructure departments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $100.00/hr.
