Grant Thornton has an open role for a key sales leader to help expand our Global Indirect Tax practice area, with a priority focus on the key vendors in that tax technology ecosystem, which includes Vertex, Avalara and Thomsen Reuters, among others. This role will be responsible for expanding our business with existing clients while also driving new business acquisition. This role requires a proactive sales hunter mentality, a strong ability to build relationships, and a strategic approach to identifying opportunities in the market. This role requires a deep understanding of prospecting, qualifying, and building relationships in an executive-level, complex sales environment. The sales professional in this position is chartered with assisting in strategically building and growing our Global Indirect Tax technology and transformation alliances and client base. The role calls for an experienced and successful Client Relationship Executive with a proven ability to initiate new relationships and leverage existing relationships with key business decision makers at targeted firm accounts as well as global technology partners.
The successful tax consulting sales professional should also have a deep understanding of the Global Indirect Tax market as well as an established network of relationships with leading vendors/partners in software alliance ecosystems. The role will require an ability to analyze a client’s business and technical environment to identify viable opportunities for Grant Thornton, then engage the appropriate team once opportunities are qualified. This professional should have the ability to be a key player within a team, to explore developing creative solutions (technology, people, process, and data) to solve client issues, and to assist in developing responses to client requirements is preferred.
All applicants must have a demonstrated record of accomplishments in successfully meeting and/or exceeding sales goals especially in a team-based, complex selling environment.
Your day-to-day may include:
+ The applicant MUST have a strong record of success in Tax consulting and/or Professional services sales/business development
+ Proven track record of solution-based selling services at the CXO/VP Tax/Controller level
+ Success selling tax technology and data transformation and analytics related services to the enterprise at the $250 Million to Fortune 500 revenue levels
+ Deep understanding of tax software ecosystems, desktop automation platforms, sales and procurement applications, data transformation and analytics tools, and ERP systems (e.g., Vertex, Thomson Reuters, Avalara, SAP, Coupa, Ariba, Oracle, Workday, Microsoft, Alteryx)
+ Deep understanding of indirect tax software and lifecycle functional areas, including, for example, tax engines, tax compliance, e-invoicing, payment processing, data warehousing, tax analytics, research tools, tax audits, AI/ML usage in the indirect tax arena
+ Lead Generation - ability to source, identify and qualify leads
+ Experience working across industry, geography and solution offering with sales and delivery leaders in a collaborative and team selling environment
+ Strong knowledge and understanding of multiple industries
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Demonstrated self-motivated, strong work ethic, proactive nature
+ Proven track record meeting and exceeding services quota
+ Ability to use various software programs to produce proposals, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, etc. (MS CRM, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
You have the following technical skills or qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree preferably in Business or related discipline
+ Immediate or near-term ability to connect with national and regional client base
+ Minimum five years sales experience in a business-to-business or service industry
+ Experience working within a multidisciplinary professional services and/or software firm, preferably public accounting or leading tax technology application providers
+ Ability to develop long-standing relationships that lead to a premier positioning of Grant Thornton within a client organization
+ Ability to conceptualize, articulate and drive successful marketing strategies and plans
+ Experience identifying and developing business opportunities within client organizations in the tax technology space as well as other tax functional areas
+ Always possesses a high degree of integrity in all interactions
+ Communicates openly and honestly with clients and the Grant Thornton team
+ Consistently promotes and contributes to an effective team environment
+ Readiness to travel (must be currently eligible to work in the United States, position is not eligible for employer sponsorship)
+ Able to apply creative solutions to solve client problems
+ Extremely analytical with strong business sense
+ Highly organized and detail oriented
+ Flexible, adaptable and an eager self-starter
+ Prior consulting industry experience or prior experience in an internal consulting role
The base salary range for this position in the firm's Chicago, IL office is between $184,000 to $276,000.
