THE POSITION
This a part-time hourly position that reports to a permanent staff member and performs routine library-related clerical duties related to library operations in a community, specialized, regional, or headquarters library. We are looking for some who can take initiative and make independent judgment within established procedural and policy limits.
Essential Job Functions
What You'll Be Doing:
Process library materials for customers, including check-in and check-out procedures.
Register new customers (borrowers) in accordance with established specialized protocols.
Explain and enforce library policies and procedures.
Provide information and answer questions from the public regarding library rules, including fines, fees, and material location, etc.
Operate office equipment, including computers and performs other incidental duties in a small office setting.
Assist in shelving and moving materials.
Prepare and process outgoing and incoming delivery shipments as vital, including packing and unpacking.
Provide support for various tasks and special projects, as needed.
Requirements
Requirements to Qualify:
At least three (3) months of experience in a customer-facing role, such as sales, food service, reception, or a similar position that involves direct customer interaction.
Age: At least 18 years of age.
Physical Class III - Moderate: This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
Desirable Qualifications:
+ Successful completion of one or more accredited college or university* course(s) in Library Technology or Library Science.
+ Experience supporting the daily operations of a community library** by performing tasks such as assorting & arranging books and other materials; serves library customers; maintains supplies; inspects books and materials for cleanliness and/or repairs; sets up library premises for special events, programs, and meetings; assists with facility opening and closing procedures; maintains the overall orderliness of library facilities.

Our Assessment Process: This assessment will consist of an evaluation of education and experience based upon application information and supplemental questionnaire, weighted 100%.
