The School of Law at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Professor of Law position in the areas of wills & trusts and property to begin in Fall 2026. The position is open to both entry-level candidates and candidates who are on the tenure-track or tenured at another school. Candidates who satisfy Texas Tech University’s requirements to be hired with tenure will also be considered for the Governor Preston E. Smith Regents Professorship.

    The School of Law at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Professor of Law position in the areas of wills & trusts and property to begin in Fall 2026.     Preferred Qualifications:

    In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

    1. A demonstrated record of effective teaching in courses such as Wills & Trusts, Property, and/or Estate Planning.

    2. An established record of scholarly publications in wills & trusts, property, estate planning, or intersecting areas of legal scholarship.

    3. A commitment to, and/or demonstrated experience in, supporting and engaging students from a broad range of backgrounds, including first-generation college or law students.

    4. Prior experience as a practicing attorney and/or judicial clerk, particularly in areas relevant to the teaching and scholarship expectations of the position.

    5. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a collegial academic environment.

    6. Other academic experience—such as additional degrees or leadership roles—that may enhance contributions to teaching, scholarship, or service.

    Faculty Qualifications:

    1. Holds a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or a J.D. equivalent from a recognized international institution.

    2. Demonstrates interest in and commitment to teaching Wills & Trusts and related courses, including Property and/or Estate Planning.

    3. Demonstrates interest in and commitment to producing impactful legal scholarship in areas such as wills & trusts, property, and/or estate planning.

    4. Has a record of, or strong commitment to, service within legal education, the legal profession, or the broader public, including institutional, community, or professional service.
