Who are we?
FSDB is a state public school available at no cost to eligible pre-K and K-12 students who are deaf/hard of hearing, blind/visually impaired or deafblind, including boarding and transportation services. FSDB is nationally recognized for its comprehensive educational services, designed for the unique communication and accessibility needs of students. FSDB also provides educational outreach programs for children ages 0-5 and their families. The FSDB experience provides students with the edge to do more, be more, and achieve more.
How you will make an impact
The incumbent in this confidential position serves under the Administrator of Outreach and Technology Services and supervises campus network and technical staff, requires remote access to all data systems, and is on-call for emergencies.
+ Supervises the daily operations of the Technology Department’s technical staff. Responsible for position descriptions, hiring, retention, development, and evaluation of staff members. Monitors the quality of services delivery, appropriate training and support of staff. Oversees workloads, workflows, deadlines, work objectives, and time utilization with employees. Evaluates employees through establishing evaluation criteria and responsibilities and meeting regularly with employees to ensure the established criteria are met. Communicates on a regular basis with employees both individually and in staff meetings. Oversees the contracted service providers working on the campus or remotely addressing projects and tasks on the network.
+ Develops and writes procedures to be followed by Technology Department technicians and FSDB staff campuswide. Develops and maintains documentation to support processes and to provide troubleshooting techniques and ensures systems are kept up to appropriate technical standards. Oversees changes in department procedures, technology operations, and maintains incident documentation. Oversees the planning, designing, configuring, and maintenance of the campus, disaster recovery and Police Services data centers as well as the campus network infrastructure.
+ Oversees fiscal management through the accurate forecasting of department needs, quality budget development, and monthly monitoring of budget expenditures, encumbrances, and allotment balances. Leads the analysis of equipment specifications in preparation for ordering new equipment to refresh end-of-life equipment. Consults with agency administrators and teams to determine user needs and define system requirements. Facilitates the refresh schedule for all network infrastructure and user-assigned equipment including iPads, computers, printers, assistive technology equipment and peripherals. Consults with the Administrator of Outreach and Technology Services and the IT Project Coordinator for the development of the PECO Legislative Budget Request and the General Revenue budget request annually for technology department acquisition of and contracting for hardware, software and service (including maintenance).
+ Participates in NEFEC and state meetings and conferences as appropriate. Remains up to date on state required network and security expectations through research and training. Collaborates with other departments and may lead technology-related training for end-users.
+ Available for extraordinary after-hours communication and tasks. Performs related tasks as needed.

+ Skill in technical network problem solving in a cross-platform environment;
+ Ability to test and troubleshoot computer programs and network system management applications;

+ Ability to write and generate technical data reports and communicate effectively verbally and in writing;

+ Ability to travel around campus, to get into small spaces and work in all IDF rooms in each building;
+ Ability to supervise people and coordinate projects;

+ Ability to make timely and accurate decisions during normal operating conditions and critical situations;
+ Ability to determine work priorities, assigns work, and ensures proper completion of work assignments;
+ Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
+ Ability to maintain a valid state of Florida driver's license and meet FSDB requirements to operate a state vehicle according to the Transportation Policy:
+ Ability to complete training and administer skills acquired during CPR;
+ Ability to attain sign language proficiency level in accordance with FSDB O.P.P.1.24;
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field.
+ Twelve credit hours of college coursework in educational leadership or administration and supervision or equivalent.
+ Five years professional experience in related field.
+ Additional requirements mandated by state/federal law and position responsibilities.
Sign Language Requirements
Applicants who are selected for hire will be required to attain a Survival Plus proficiency in sign language within four years of hire .
Please note: The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind provides education to acquire sign language skills .
Hiring Salary Range: 12-month position, $68,877.14 - $76,377.14 annually. This range is inclusive of verified experience and education.

Associate’s degree addl $1500.00
Bachelor’s degree addl $3000.00
Master’s degree addl $4500.00
Additional Related and verified Full-time Experience (20-year max) addl $150.00 per year
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm; At least 80 hours biweekly.
