About This Role:
The Health Education Program Coordinator is a vital member of the Student Health Center team, responsible for coordinating and delivering comprehensive health education programs that promote student well-being at Lamar University and Lamar Institute of Technology. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Health Education, the Coordinator leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-informed health promotion initiatives addressing key topics such as mental health, substance use prevention, sexual health, nutrition, and stress management.
This role involves conducting campus health assessments, managing peer education and outreach activities, and developing strong partnerships with academic departments, student organizations, and campus services. The coordinator utilizes public health models and behavior change theories to create effective programs that support student success, retention, and overall campus wellness
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
+ Collaborates with campus departments, student organizations, and community partners to develop and implement health and wellness programs that address student needs.
+ Coordinates student-focused health promotion events and campaigns, including planning logistics, managing outreach materials, and overseeing event execution
+ Manages the department’s social media presence and website content in coordination with the Assistant Director to ensure consistent and effective communication.
+ Provides oversight and support for student employees and volunteers involved in health education initiatives.
+ Maintains accurate inventory of promotional and educational materials for campus outreach, orientations, and tabling events.
+ Supports the development and implementation of campus-wide policies and practices that promote student health and well-being.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Key Competencies: (KSAs – Knowledge Skills and Abilities)
+ Knowledge of health promotion best practices, preferably in a higher education setting · Ability to plan and deliver cost-effective, evidence-informed health programs with measurable outcomes.
+ Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills,
+ Proficient in using design tools (e.g., Canva), social media, and standard office software.
+ Effective time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
+ Experience supervising student workers and coordinating team-based initiatives
Physical Requirements: Frequent lifting, carrying, and organizing 10–15-pound articles for presentation set up and tear down.
Job Conditions: Full-time, benefits eligible, primarily M-F 40hrs/week with some late night and weekend hours. Flexibility with the weekly schedule and approval.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, or a related field.
+ Two or more years of experience in the field of health, public health, health promotion, health policy, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in public health or related discipline.
