_About the Opportunity_
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]
This position is based in Akron, OH, and reports to the Vice President, Enterprise Technology (Chief Technology Officer). The Director, Corporate Platforms is responsible for leading the strategic direction, delivery, and ongoing evolution of enterprise business platforms including ERP (SAP), supply chain, HR, and other corporate products that enable critical business operations. Operating within FirstEnergy’s Product and Platform operating model, this leader will work across business and technology domains to ensure that platform capabilities are continuously aligned to evolving business outcomes.
As a key member of the enterprise technology leadership team, this leader will oversee a multi-disciplinary team of managers and professionals to ensure effective delivery, support, and continuous improvement of the products and platforms. The role requires close collaboration with business leaders and technology partners to align platform capabilities with business goals while promoting operational excellence, scalability, and digital transformation.
_Responsibilities Include:_
Strategic Platform Leadership
+ Own the vision, roadmap, and lifecycle of key enterprise platforms including SAP and other corporate systems (HR, Finance, Supply Chain).
+ Partner with business and IT leadership to ensure technology capabilities support strategic business priorities.
+ Champion modernization and simplification efforts across legacy platforms to improve agility and cost efficiency.
+ Lead large-scale platform transformation initiatives, ensuring appropriate governance, stakeholder engagement, and risk mitigation.
Platform Operations and Delivery
+ Oversee end-to-end platform operations, support, enhancement, and release management.
+ Ensure high system availability, performance, and security across all supported platforms.
+ Manage platform vendor relationships, contracts, and SLAs to ensure value delivery and accountability.
+ Collaborate with enterprise architects and engineers to ensure solutions align with architectural standards and enterprise goals.
Talent and Organizational Leadership
+ Lead and develop a high-performing team including managers of Enterprise Platform, Corporate Products, HR Products, and Supply Chain Products.
+ Build a strong team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
+ Foster product/platform collaboration and shared delivery models across cross-functional teams.
+ Drive knowledge sharing, training, and career development across platform teams.
+ Promote an inclusive, values-driven culture in alignment with FirstEnergy’s core principles.
_Qualifications include:_
+ Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
+ Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with increasing leadership responsibilities in enterprise applications or platforms.
+ Deep understanding of ERP systems (especially SAP), business applications, and platform lifecycle management.
+ Proven experience delivering complex platform modernization or digital transformation programs.
+ Familiarity with operating in a Product and Platform model, with a clear understanding of roles, accountability, and value streams.
+ Strong knowledge of IT service management, vendor management, and operational governance.
+ Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing managers across diverse technology domains.
+ Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
+ Commitment to operational excellence and a continuous improvement mindset.
+ Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
+ Experience with working across an entire organization to influence and align on common goals or objectives.
