Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation at March Air Reserve Base, CA. The Primary Purpose of this position is to perform the full range of programming support work for the outdoor recreation center. This is a regular part-time position which means you are guaranteed to work at least 20 hours per week. Responsibilities Works under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Manager to perform the full range of programming support work for the Equipment Rental function; plans and participates in base-wide events and team building events, along with overseeing Park reservations at off-site locations and base pools; focusing on areas such as finance, scheduling, training, personnel, equipment, inventory, marketing, planning, projects, facilities, and program management. Conducts/schedules all required training for the pool operation, plans all aquatic programs for the base. Assists rental personnel in the repair, maintenance, upkeep, and service of equipment. Inspects worn or broken parts, determines parts serviceability. Performs monthly inspections of equipment for serviceability and preventive maintenance. Conducts formal and informal needs assessments, solicits ideas for programs, and develops and assists the manager in designing and executing a comprehensive program of activities, services, and/or events to meet the serviced population. Uses base surveys, focus groups and customer feedback to evaluate existing programs and makes recommendations to improve, enhance, or develop new programs. Assists in planning and developing marketing and publicity program strategies for the assigned area. Proactively plans and coordinates logistical support requirements with appropriate on -base organizations. Formulates, justifies, executes, and monitors NAF accounting transactions, budgets, and resources. Assists in developing a 5-year financial plan for programs including Recharge for Resiliency (R4R), Single Airmen Program Initiative Program (SAPI), Outdoor Adventure Programs; water or land-based activities; and other instructional programs. Maintains a filing system to include items such as continuity files, after action reports, and calendars for future reference. Plans, prepares and presents briefings and other oral presentations as required. Meets periodically with the supervisor and flight chief to brief on program planning updates. Ensures security of merchandise, equipment, and funds; and provides training on established procedures. Provides customer service, answers telephone and assists patrons with equipment operation, maintenance, and care. Maintains a clean, neat and safe work area. Performs other related duties and assists other employees throughout the Outdoor Recreation activity as required by the supervisor. Qualifying Experience: Progressive experience in planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating outdoor adventure programs or other practical experience which has provided a working familiarity and knowledge of the procedures and programs followed in group activities of a recreation program is desired. Must possess skill in dealing with public. Must be able to work being exposed to a variety of cold or hot weather. Must possess the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with attached trailer. Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record with no major violations. Availability to work uncommon work schedule including weekends and holidays. Position is a position oftrust and is subject to satisfactory completion of a Tier I background check. This is a drug testing designation position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
