Responsibilities

Physical Therapists treat patients from newborn to geriatric and work under the referral of a physician. They are responsible to evaluate, establish appropriate plan of care and provide needed treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and independence and prevent disability.

+ Evaluates and treats physical therapy patients under physician orders in the outpatient and acute settings

+ Develops treatment plans for all patients assigned to case load

+ Maintains appropriate documentation in the patient’s medical record

+ Ongoing commitment to reducing costs and improving productivity in the physical therapy department

+ Maintains positive relationships with the health care team, patient and family

+ Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with all appropriate members of the patient’s healthcare team

Qualifications

Education:

+ Graduate of a Physical Therapist education program approved by The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), a successor organization of CAPTE, or an education program outside the United States determined to be substantially equivalent to physical therapist entry-level education in the United States by a credentials evaluation organization approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.

+ Passed an examination for Physical Therapists approved by the state in which physical therapy services are provided.

Licensure:

+ Physical therapy licensure in Iowa or eligible for licensure in Iowa.

+ Valid Drivers License

Experience:

+ Entry level/new graduate acceptable

Skills/Abilities:

+ Effective written and verbal communication skills

+ Basic knowledge of computer concepts

+ Ability to meet time frames for work completion

+ Effective skills for teamwork/team facilitation

+ Ability to evaluate critically and think creatively

+ Able to read and understand a variety of patient related documentation

+ Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate and treat rehabilitative needs of patients relative to development and age
