The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The Industrial Specialties Division is looking to add an experienced technical expert to our Packaging business product development team. Our team is looking for someone who has electrical mechanical hardgoods development experience with a passion for product and technology development. This person will lead the technical development and commercialization of our packaging end of line solutions with specific focus on the development of products for use in eCommerce applications.

As a **Product Development Engineer,** you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

+ Direct multi-disciplinary engineering teams on divisional NPI and commercialization projects as the platform technology leader.

+ Lead cross-functional efforts to identify and develop new product concepts to fill out global product platform offerings that provide high end-user value.

+ Initiate and contribute to the development of intellectual property filings to grow and protect our proprietary technology platforms and IP related strategies.

+ Identify and leverage external interactions to accelerate technology and product development.

+ Champion technologies to expand platform potential and value.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline(completed and verified prior to start)

+ Eight (8) years of combined experience working on productand/or technology developmentin a private, public, government or military environment

+ Five (5) years of experience with electrical mechanical hardgoods development as part of a new product development team.

+ Experience with CAD/3D drawing software

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

+ Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

+ Proven leader with ability to communicate across functions including laboratory, sales, and business teams.

+ Demonstrated expertise in new product/technology/market strategies

+ Ability to build multiple solutions paths to resolve problems; data driven in decision making.

+ Experience developing intellectual property portfolios in collaboration with legal and technical experts.

Work location:

+ **Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to** **3M Center in Maplewood MN** **at least** **3** **days per week)**

+ **Location: Maplewood, MN**

Travel:** **May include up to** **10% domestic and international

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $141,150 - $172,517, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
