Our 3M Cottage Grove Site includes 625 colleagues and manufactures value added products including abrasives, semiconductor pad conditioners, specialty chemicals, glass bubbles, automotive nonwoven webs, and film.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer at our Cottage Grove facility, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

+ Leading Continuous Improvement teams and Product and Process Understanding (PPU) efforts to improve safety, quality, increase yields, improve productivity and raise the bar for process capability on manufacturing equipment

+ Leading site and division management of change processes

+ Leading and participating on site and division New Product Introductions

+ Leading and participating on capital equipment projects

+ Creating and maintaining standard operating procedures, work instructions and test methods

+ Efficiently troubleshooting defects and variation, performing root cause analysis and applying systemic problem-solving skills and robust solutions

+ Proactively communicating at all levels of the organization to drive direction and positive change

+ Supporting a dynamic 24x7 operation through a willingness to be on-call

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

+ Three (3) years of engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

+ Five (5) years of engineering experience and/or Two (2) years of product engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment

+ Excellent mechanical and/or chemical aptitude and problem-solving skills; practical and hands-on, with analytical comprehension and data driven decision making

+ Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Analysis Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans

+ Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams from multiple locations and divisions

+ Experience with IATF16949:2016 Quality Management System Standards and Requirements.

+ Certified internal auditor for ISO9001:2015 and/or IATF16949:2016

+ Experience with AIAG Core Tools

+ ASQ Certification

+ Ability to navigate through ambiguity and change

Travel: May include up to 5%

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $122,292 - $149,468, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
