• Civil CAD Technician - Transportation

    Overview

     

    Kimley-Horn is looking for an experienced CAD Operator to join our Transportation team in Saint Paul, Minnesota (MN)!

    Responsibilities

    + Collaborate with design staff and project engineers to develop design concepts and assist with preliminary and final engineering plans, ensuring accurate and coordinated deliverables.

    + Use basic drafting aptitude to create and refine high-quality civil engineering designs and technical drawings.

    + Perform quality checks and revise drawings based on redlines and design comments.

    + Maintain and manage drawing files and design databases.

    + Support schedule adherence and ensure quality control in project deliverables.

    + May provide guidance or training to junior CAD staff.

    + Learn and apply Kimley-Horn’s standards, procedures, and design practices.

    + Contribute to basic design tasks in Civil 3D (e.g., surfaces, alignments, profiles) — a plus but not required.

    Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

    + Minimum of **3 years of relevant drafting/design experience** in civil engineering or related field.

    + Proficient in CAD software for civil design and drafting.

    + Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and reviewing technical drawings.

    + Ability to interpret and apply redlines, design markups, and engineering standards.

    + **Basic experience with Civil 3D design elements** (e.g., surfaces, alignments, profiles) is a **plus** .

    + Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

    + Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time and deadlines independently.

     

    Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000
