Overview
Kimley-Horn's Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 1+ years of experience to join their Surface Water team. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
+ Play a key role in our growing water resources practices as an analyst. A qualified candidate should be able toassistwith one or more of the following project types:
+ Hydrologic/Hydraulic Modeling
+ Stormwater Master Plans and/or Watershed Studies
+ Floodplain Modeling & Permitting
+ Dam Breach Modeling & Permitting
+ Bridge Hydraulics Modeling
+ Hydraulic/Hydrologic Modeling to Support Stormwater Design
+ Stormwater Design
+ Preliminary Engineering Reports
+ Drainage Design Reports
+ Pond Sizing and Retrofits
+ Stormwater Infrastructure Design
+ Stormwater Design Plans, Specifications, and Bid Packages
+ Stormwater Permitting
+ As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.
+ Depending onthe amount ofexperience,a candidate mayberesponsible forworkingwith a Senior Project Manager as a Task Manager toassistin the managementand executionof one of theabove-listedproject types.
Qualifications
+ 1+ years ofrelevant engineering design or modeling experience
+ Bachelor’s orMaster’sDegreefrom an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineeringor equivalentdegree (e.g.,EnvironmentalEngineering, BiologicalSystems Engineering)
+ "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
+ Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGISorAutoCAD Civil 3D
+ Python programing experienceis welcomed, but not expected
+ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
+ Strong senseof urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
+ Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
+ Ability to work independently and as a team
