Senior Staff Accountant 2025-110
Overview
We are actively recruiting for a Senior Staff Accountant who will be responsible for recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions; assisting with monthly and annual financial closing, budget process, and the preparation of required federal and state tax returns; handling variance analysis and provides variance explanations for leadership; and managing acquisition accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Work arrangement is hybrid, and the starting annual salary range is $96,000 - $102,000, plus an annual incentive opportunity targeting 10%. The successful candidate must reside within a125 mile radius of the downtown New York office.

RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Assist with the month-end closing process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
+ Prepare and post necessary journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Manage intercompany transactions, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation of due to/due from accounts.
+ Regularly review and resolve any discrepancies in intercompany balances.
+ Perform detailed expense and variance analysis, providing explanations for significant variances.
+ Prepare variance analysis reports for management, highlighting key trends and potential issues.
+ Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
+ Collaborate with various departments to gather and validate data for reporting purposes.
+ Handle daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
+ Provide support to the bookkeeper, assisting with complex transactions and reconciliations.
+ Review the bookkeeper's work for accuracy and completeness.
+ Manage and execute weekly and monthly fund transfers, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
+ Reconcile transfer records and resolve any discrepancies.
+ Assist in the preparation and maintenance of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
+ Analyze budget data and prepare variance reports, providing insights for future financial planning.
+ Ensure accurate accounting of project time tracking, allocating costs to separate subsidiaries appropriately.
+ Review time tracking data for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
+ Manage travel and expense (T&E) accounting using Ramp, ensuring accurate recording and compliance with company policies.
+ Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
+ Maintain detailed records of reconciliations and support for audit purposes.
+ Ensure accurate revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
+ Review contracts and agreements to determine proper revenue recognition treatment.
+ Interact with internal and external auditors, providing requested documentation and explanations.
+ Maintain organized records of audit activities and follow up on audit findings to ensure resolution.
+ Manage the maintenance of balance sheet accounts, including prepaids and accrued expenses.
+ Perform detailed reconciliations and ensure all accounts are accurately recorded and reported.
+ Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable job attendance.
+ Attend on-site and in-person meetings and training sessions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
+ 4-6 years of progressive experience in a finance analyst or accounting role performing General Ledger Accounting
+ Knowledge of ASC 606 and ASC 842 is preferred
