JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

+ Providing age appropriate care to assigned patients: medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, emergency, same day surgery, swing bed, outpatients, respite

+ Applying knowledge of basic growth and development in patient care

+ Incorporating knowledge of the nursing process in the performance of patient assessments

+ Providing care based on the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Monitors and interprets patient status/information based on knowledge of growth, development and age; recognizes basic changes based on data collected and keeps RN and medical provider informed

+ Provision of care is consistent with evidence based practices and principles of infection control

+ Prioritizes, initiates and completes appropriate interventions based on patient need

+ Evaluates patient response to action plan and intervenes appropriately ● Recognizes personal/self clinical skills/knowledge and appropriately seeks assistance to meet patient needs

+ Demonstrates ability to administer medication and treatments safely and effectively

+ Demonstrates the ability to use, maintain and troubleshoot patient care equipment

+ Notifies medical providers of patient care needs in a timely manner (abnormal lab values, EKG changes, etc.)

+ Provides appropriate patient/family education based on assessed needs ● Completes all patient care documentation legibly, according to policy (i.e., nurses notes, admission assessments, care plan, referrals, MAR, etc.)

+ Must be available to take one on-call shift per pay period.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

+ Associates Degree in Nursing

Required Licensure and Certifications

+ Current licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse by the Iowa State Board of Nursing

+ BLS

+ ACLS, PALS (ACLS & PALS completed within 12 months of employment) will be acquired and maintained.

Pay Range

$20.62 - $28.35 /hour
