The Agency Finance Division, Payables/Cashier Unit is looking for an Account Clerk Senior to provide agency fiscal support to ensure all accounting functions and processes for the Department of Education (MDE) are performed accurately and in accordance with state & federal regulations and/or procedures, MDE policy, and labor union agreements.
Additional responsibilities within Accounts Payable include: general accounts payable processing, payment of non-state business expenses, entry of journal voucher and cash receipts, file maintenance and other general accounting to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Assess entry of payments in the statewide accounting system to ensure functions are carried out in an accurate and timely manner and provide training and assistance to division staff on fiscal related matters.
This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering state. Effective June 1, employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 50 or more miles away, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance are eligible to telework up to 100% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications

Experience in:
+ Accounting knowledge and skills sufficient to post, code and process accounting documents.
+ Working knowledge of SWIFT (or comparable large accounting system) and general office equipment sufficient to create, modify, and protect entries, input and access information, and identify and adjust for potential problems. Electronic Inter-Office Requisition (EIOR) System.
+ Knowledge of basic accounting principles sufficient to monitor, collect and analyze data, and implement procedural and transactional changes in fiscal operations.
+ Customer service skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clientele.
+ Ability to perform duties accurately and concisely when faced with recurring biweekly deadlines, allowing little turnaround time for processing of required payroll or deposit documents.
+ Good organizational skills and be able to do detailed work with speed and accuracy. Including utilizing Microsoft Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Three (3) years of experience in Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) and Electronic Inter-Office Requisition (EIOR) System.
