Job Description

We are seeking a strategic, insights-driven Senior Category Advisor to support the fresh business at a large global retailer. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to the merchandising team, delivering data-backed recommendations that drive category growth, shopper satisfaction, and operational excellence across Fresh departments (e.g., Produce, Meat, Deli, Bakery, Dairy).

The ideal candidate combines deep analytical expertise with a strong understanding of the Fresh supply chain and shopper behavior. In addition to leading category strategy and performance analysis, this role will be responsible for drawing modulars and supporting modular planning process from end to end.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary category expert and strategic partner to merchants.

Analyze sales, shopper, and market data to identify growth opportunities and performance gaps.

Lead modular planning and assortment recommendations using customer-centric insights.

Own the modular drawing process, ensuring planograms align with strategic objectives and shopper behavior.

Develop and present compelling, data-driven stories that influence merchandising decisions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Supply Chain, Shopper Insights, and Marketing.

Monitor competitive landscape and industry trends to inform category strategies.

Support innovation and test-and-learn initiatives within the Fresh space.

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and internal partners.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or related field; MBA preferred.

5+ years of experience in category management, preferably in Fresh or perishable categories.

Experience drawing modulars and working within modular planning systems.

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, and syndicated data platforms (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, Numerator).

Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to influence at all levels.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Experience working directly with Fresh merchandising team.

Knowledge of supply chain dynamics and shrink management in perishable categories.

Familiarity with Luminate, Retail Link, and modular drawing tools (e.g., Apollo, JDA). null
