Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
As an Electrical Tradesman is responsible for technical inspections, quality assurance, and contractor oversight related to the electrical systems of the Warsaw CSU project. You will support the Warsaw CSU – Compound Security Upgrade and Major Renovation Project for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO). You will play a vital role in ensuring all electrical work aligns with U.S. codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Key responsibilities:
+ Conduct technical inspections of all electrical systems and components
+ Review and interpret construction drawings, design narratives, and specifications
+ Evaluate engineering shop drawings for compliance with final design parameters
+ Monitor the contractor’s QA/QC and safety programs
+ Perform field inspections to ensure proper installation and execution of electrical work
+ Assess submittals and materials for contract compliance and resolve discrepancies
+ Provide weekly progress reports and recommendations based on site conditions
+ Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure design integration
+ Identify issues in electrical execution and recommend corrective actions to the Project Director or Construction Manager
+ Review construction documents prepared by the A/E team and provide technical input during the construction phase
+ Maintain records of inspections and contractor performance; prepare detailed construction reports
+ Support evaluation of Building Automation Systems, HVAC systems, monitor controls, disconnects, general plumbing, and power generation systems
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director or COR.
Qualifications to be successful in the role:
+ Licensed Electrician (U.S.), required
+ Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED)
+ Minimum 7 years of relevant construction experience, preferably on overseas projects
+ Prior OBO project/site experience preferred
+ Strong ability to read and interpret electrical design and construction drawings
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
+ Familiarity with U.S. building codes and international construction standards
+ Excellent technical writing and communication skills
+ Knowledge of safety regulations (EM 385-1-1, OSHA).
