    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Area Field Engineer for the Sulfuric Acid Plant (SAP) at Thacker Pass will provide In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders" involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor"s management staff.

     

    Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.

    Major Responsibilities:

    The Lead Structural Field Engineer reports to the Area Field Engineer/Project Field Engineer and is responsible for the technical oversight of all steel activities on the project.

     

    The selected applicant shall provide technical direction to the direct hire work force as well as supervision.

     

    The Lead Structural Field Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the structural steel related work.

     

    Must have experience with construction in all areas of concrete and steel structures.

     

    Coordinate with supervision the work schedule and any material deliveries required

     

    Complete training requirements assigned.

     

    Preparation of concrete and steel installation work packages.

     

    Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation.

     

    Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all civil/structural quantities.

     

    Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.

     

    Interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issue.

     

    Assist superintendents and subcontractors in constructability and quality issues.

     

    Work with the suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.

     

    Prepare material requisitions, coordinate and review vendor drawings.

     

    Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the projects schedule.

     

    Interpret design drawings, Complete Concrete material take-offs.

     

    Assure that materials are stored properly to ensure environmental protection.

     

    Material receipt inspections as required.

     

    Reviews specifications, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data, Assist with preparation of construction estimates.

     

    Recommend design or installation improvements to improve safety on the project.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    University/B.S degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is desired but may be waived if equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.

     

    6-8 years minimum field civil/structural engineering experience.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Experience with Clients direct hire craft preferred

     

    Contract management experience

     

    Understanding of applicable work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.

     

    Experience in mining and metals

     

    Familiarity with Clients Standard Applications (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAM Works, Productivity System, PTR, e-Sub and other automation tools which are used on projects is an asset.

     

    Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

     

    Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.

     

    Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
