    Job Summary

    HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energetic Mechanic in our State College shop . The qualified candidates will have experience working on heavy equipment. Applicant must be able to work varying shifts and long hours dependent on market demands.

    Main Responsibilities

    + Reads job order and observes equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.

    + Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.

    + Overhaul’s gas or diesel engines.

    + Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and makes adjustments.

    + Lubricates moving parts and drives or operates repaired truck or equipment to verify conformance to specifications.

    + Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.

    + Completes all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensures state inspection requirements are met for trucks

    + Other duties may be assigned

    Education

    + High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred

    + Valid drivers’ license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history

     

    Skills

     

    + Previous experience and knowledge with diesel equipment/trucks and/or related field preferred

    + Knowledge of diagnostic software and equipment

    + Strong mechanical proficiency and troubleshooting skills including knowledge of diesel engine and components

    Physical Requirements

    + Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines

    + Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, use hands to move and manipulate objects, and communicate (talk and hear)

    + Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

    + Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain

    + Frequent exposure to loud noise, all outdoor weather conditions, dust, fuel, oil, other chemicals, and airborne particles

    + Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals

    + Abides to company safety and drug/alcohol testing requirements
