Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

As an Electrical Engineer specializing in Radiation Tolerant Control Systems, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced sensors and systems for optical communications in space. This position involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with mechanical, mechatronic, optical, and software engineers to ensure successful integration of components.

Responsibilities

+ Develop and test communication systems incorporating digital, analog, fiber optic, and free space optic components.

+ Design electronic hardware for mechanisms and control systems, including moving stages and steering mirrors.

+ Engage in the entire lifecycle of hardware development, from schematic capture through PCB layout to production.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define hardware requirements.

+ Utilize basic and advanced laboratory tools for debugging and testing hardware.

+ Interface with radiation test facilities to schedule and perform tests, documenting radiation test plans and results.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

+ At least two years of experience leading hardware designs from concept to volume production.

+ Experience in designing electronics for space environments, considering thermal, power, and radiation effects.

+ Proficiency in high-speed digital design and tools such as Cadence OrCAD and Allegro PCB Editor.

+ Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Understanding of the effects of radiation on electronic systems in space environments.

+ Experience with FASTRAD software.

+ Experience working with modern software development and scrum methodologies.

+ Experience in FPGA design, including schematic capture and system Verilog.

+ Experience with optics and/or fiber optics.

Work Environment

This role offers flexibility with a hybrid or 100% remote work option for candidates based in the continental US. The position requires a US Person but does not necessitate an active secret clearance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $100.00/hr.
