We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Drafter with a strong background in architectural drafting and metal panel systems. This role is critical in transforming architectural concepts into precise, buildable shop drawings that meet both project specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
+ Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop detailed shop drawings for metal panel systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry codes for commercial buildings.
+ Produce comprehensive shop drawings including layout plans, elevations, sections, attachment details, and fabrication drawings for metal wall and roof panels.
+ Coordinate panel layout with structural and architectural elements to ensure proper fit, alignment, and constructability.
+ Generate panel schedules, material take-offs, and fabrication lists to support procurement and production.
+ Apply knowledge of various metal panel systems (e.g., ACM, insulated metal panels, single-skin) and their installation methods.
+ Conduct quality checks on peer drawings and bill of materials to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to fabrication and installation.
+ Review and incorporate redline corrections from customers and internal stakeholders.
+ Collaborate with engineering teams to coordinate panel analysis and resolve technical issues.
+ Assist in the development of standard product details, manuals, and installation prints.
+ Support sales and customer service teams with technical drawing needs and project-specific questions.
+ Create submittal packages for new projects and assist with revisions as needed.
+ Manage multiple drafting projects simultaneously, maintaining high standards of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience in drafting with a focus on architectural metal panel systems.
+ Proficiency and experience with Revit or other BIM tools is a plus.
+ Strong understanding of construction documents, fabrication processes, and installation practices.
+ Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
+ Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities.
+ Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
+ Familiarity with bill of materials (BOM) creation and material take-offs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
Work Environment
The work environment involves using advanced software and tools such as Revit to produce detailed shop drawings. The role requires maintaining high standards of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines while managing multiple projects. This is a collaborative environment, requiring effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
