    Job Summary

    The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for providing supervision and direction for all housekeeping staff of the hotel, ensuring the highest level of cleanliness while maintaining guest satisfaction. The Executive Housekeeper heads and manages the operations of the housekeeping and laundry divisions of the hotel to ensure the hotel guest rooms, public spaces, and other areas of the hotel are immaculately clean, organized, and sanitary.

    Essential Functions:

    + Operations:

    + Develops and implements systems for inspecting and managing the quality of housekeeping and laundry services provided to ensure timeliness and efficiency of services.

    + Conduct pre-shift meetings and review all information pertinent to the day’s activities.

    + Oversees inspection of housekeeping and laundry activities to ensure procedures are followed to ensure the achievement of departmental productivity objectives.

    + Ensures all guest rooms have proper furniture, fixtures, and amenities in place.

    + Responsible for the security of lost and found items and coordinating the lost and found function with other departments.

    + Evaluates and requisitions departmental supplies, equipment, and other purchases.

    + Assists with deep cleaning projects and/or assists housekeeping staff during unanticipated rush periods as needed.

    + Leadership Responsibilities:

    + Responsible for the recruitment, selection and hiring of new team members.

    + Responsible for training, assigning and overseeing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving conflicts, all in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable labor laws.

    + Schedules work according to productivity standards and forecasted occupancy; monitors staff’s adherence to schedules and duties, ensuring there is no lapse in service or operations and protection of property.

    + Complies with department and company policies and procedures and communicates them effectively to subordinates.

    + Clearly communicates job expectations, confirms understanding, and provides ongoing coaching and feedback to direct reports.

    + Conducts training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines.

    + Inspire, train, and develop people for career growth.

    + Provides support and acts as a resource for team members by answering job and employment-related questions, communicating timely and transparently about organizational decisions and changes whenever possible and providing tools and resources for success.

    + Administration and strategic planning:

    + Establishes and maintains cost control system for linen and cleaning supply inventories; oversees the budgeting, ordering and receiving of such supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels necessary for efficient operation of the hotel.

    + Complies with department’s annual budget; monitors and reports variances, keeps track of labor costs and related expenses.

    + Assures proper record keeping and cost control.

    + Creates and maintains an inventory list, labeling system, and a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for each chemical and ensure that the inventory list and labeling system reference the corresponding MSDS for each chemical.

    + Prepare reports about room occupancy, department expenses, and inventories and shares data with the General Manager.

    + Ensures Housekeeping Department is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, including OSHA, EEOC, Wage Hour and Health Laws.

    + Strengthens positive and productive working relationships within the housekeeping department as well as other departments in hotel as needed.

    + Relays appropriate requests or complaints to appropriate subordinate or manager.

    + Investigates complaints regarding housekeeping services and takes corrective actions.

    + Work closely with Front Desk Manager and supervisors on matters relating to guest room needs.

    + Enhances existing business relationships and pursues new business relationships with vendors and potential clients.

    + Completes annual Performance Plan, monitors and reports on the plan throughout the year.

    + Strives to meet or exceed department and company goals and objectives.

    Education and Experience:

    + High School Degree or equivalent required.

    + 2 or 4 year college degree preferred.

    + 2 or more years of hotel housekeeping experience required.

    + Minimum 1 year prior supervisory experience in housekeeping required.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    + Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate and effectively in English.

    + Ability to lead by example and is skilled at motivating others, building morale, inspiring, and encouraging staff to perform at their best individually and as a team to achieve department goal and objectives, while instilling a guest service atmosphere.

    + Strong business acumen with the ability to read and analyze formal business documents and procedures.

    + Ability to apply concepts of basic math and accounting.

    + Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    + Ability to speak effectively and present information before individuals and groups.

    + Ability to navigate and effectively lead team members through organizational change.

    + Proven knowledge of housekeeping industry.

    + Knowledge of company policies and procedures, and the ability and willingness to ensure that company policies and procedures are consistently followed by all team members.

    + Strong organizational skills, time management, strategic planning, critical thinking, problem solving and creativity, with exceptional attention to detail.

    + Ability to arrive to work on time when scheduled.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    + Ability to operate in a 7-day per week, 24-hour per day business setting.
