Senior Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Engineer
**Location:** Metropolis, IL
As a **Senior HSE Engineer** at **Solstice Advanced Materials (SAM)** , you’ll be the driving force behind a proactive and effective safety culture at our Metropolis, IL site. Reporting to the HSE Manager, you’ll lead critical health and safety initiatives that protect our people, processes, and reputation—especially as we transition into a stand-alone, publicly traded company following our planned spin-off from Honeywell.
You will play a key role in developing and executing life-critical safety procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of accountability across cross-functional teams. Your expertise in high-hazard environments and passion for operational safety will directly impact our ability to deliver sustainable and responsible performance.
In October 2024, Honeywell announced the spin-off of our Advanced Materials business to become a stand-alone publicly traded company, independent of Honeywell. Our intention is that this role, dedicated to the Solstice Advanced Materials business, will be a part of this future transaction when the separation occurs.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and execute HSE initiatives independently with minimal supervision.
+ Develop and implement safety programs and policies aligned with regulatory standards and company goals.
+ Conduct risk assessments, audits, and hazard analyses to drive continuous improvement.
+ Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in OSHA programs for high-hazard chemicals (e.g., Hydrofluoric acid).
+ Champion life-critical safety procedures in continuous manufacturing environments.
+ Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to promote a safety-first culture.
+ Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis; implement effective corrective actions.
+ Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
+ Monitor industry trends and evolving safety regulations to keep programs current.
+ Support training, onboarding, and communication of HSE policies across the site.
+ Demonstrate discipline in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have asylum or refugee status in the U.S.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW
The annual base salary range for this position is $95,000-$120,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. You Must Have
+ 3+ years of experience in health and safety within a chemical manufacturing environment.
+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
+ Background in Process Safety Management (PSM) environments.
+ Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety regulations.
