Position Title CSTEP Program Coordinator

Primary Responsibilities
St. Lawrence University has offered the Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program ( CSTEP ) since 1986. Reporting to the Director of CSTEP and the McNair Scholars Program, the Program Coordinator will collaborate with students, faculty, alumni, and community partners to provide undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in career preparation activities. These services lead to employment and/or graduate level study in science, technology, math, and engineering ( STEM ) professions, the New York State ( NYS ) licensed professions, and health-related fields. This is a full-time, 11-month position with the month of July off and primary work hours are 9am – 5:30pm, M-F.
Duties/Responsibilities The primary roles of the CSTEP Project Coordinator are 1) to recruit program students and maintain the NYS required minimum participation enrollment, 2) plan and execute an annual schedule of program workshops, and instruct the sessions on a weekly basis, and 3) ensure each participant completes an individualized educational/professional plan and a compulsory Service-Learning experience.
Specifically, the Program Coordinator will advertise and facilitate activities related to student recruitment, academic success, Service-Learning, and post-baccalaureate planning, as prescribed in the project Work Plan. In addition, the Project Coordinator will advise individual students concerning the graduate application process; travel with participants; assist with student presentation preparations; track the academic progress of all program participants, compiling project documentation for use in required reports; represent the program on- and off-campus at professional events and APACS regional trainings; participate in required professional development opportunities; and perform other duties as assigned by the Director, as well as those identified in the project Work Plan.
This is a NYS grant funded position on a 5-year funding cycle and is subject to the availability of funding. The position is anticipated to start in August 2025.
The NYS Education Department reviews project performance to determine continuation status on a yearly basis. The University will conduct regular performance reviews in the first year, and annual reviews in subsequent years based on meeting established project objectives and recruitment targets.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or health-related field, education, psychology, or other relevant discipline.
+ Demonstrated experience as an undergraduate student leader or graduate intern.
+ Experience working with first generation college students.
+ Strong organizational skills.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to manage social media platforms.
+ Intermediate technology and MS Office skills – Word, Excel, and PPT .
+ Willingness to work evening and weekend hours as student programming and events require.
+ Ability to travel for program events, conferences, training, and student graduate program campus visits.
+ A NYS driver’s license and willingness to become a campus certified driver.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in a STEM or health-related field or work experience as a NYS licensed professional.
+ 1-3 years of work experience in career services, a health or licensed profession, or in community development.
+ Involvement in regional professional associations within a licensed profession.
Salary Range $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. The salary level will be determined based on education and relevant experience.
