Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
NOTE:
This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.
NOTE:
Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
District 02 Program Manager for several annual Programs. Manages the design of projects in programs, plans activities, reviews designs, details, estimates, specifications and construction proposals. Coordinates program and project delivery with DOTD Headquarters Section. Plans, reviews, designs and prepares details for roadway and structural construction projects. Prepares preliminary and final cost estimates for these projects.
Reviews plans prepared by engineering consultants, DOTD Headquarters and other government agencies for conformance to DOTD and federal standards and policies. Requires knowledge of various engineering methodologies and the use of engineering judgment to determine the applicability for specific projects.
Attend pre-design, plan-in-hand and preconstruction conferences to discuss design and construction of projects prepared under the incumbent's design and direction.
Prepare, review and supervise construction contracts and engineering specifications for DOTD and other government agencies.
Direct and advise survey personnel regarding the gathering and recording of specialized field data required for roadway, levee and structural projects.
May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

Career Progression: As part of Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Engineer Intern Applicant,
Engineer Intern 1 or 2, Engineer 3, Engineer 4, or Engineer 5 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for the Engineer 5 is $126,256. Please refer to the "Job Specifications" tab located at the top of the LA Careers "Current Job Opportunities" page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level. Applicants may apply 90 days prior to receipt of your degree, however, the effective date of the appointment cannot be prior to your graduation date.

Compensation:
Engineer Intern Applicant -$24.04/hourly- Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Engineer Intern 1 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $26.44/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Engineer Intern 2 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $28.29/ hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate plus one year of professional engineering experience.
Engineer 3 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $33.39/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering.
Engineer 4 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $36.90/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus One year of licensed engineering experience OR Five years of professional engineering experience.
Engineer 5 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $39.48/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plusTwo years of licensed engineering experience OR Six years of professional engineering experience.
