    The Carpenter is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures and fixtures

     

    throughout Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. This role requires skilled craftsmanship, attention to detail,

     

    and the ability to work independently or collaboratively to support the upkeep and enhancement of

     

    historic and modern facilities, guest areas, and custom projects.

     

    This position offers guaranteed 40 hours per week and incredible benefits in a unique and inspiring

    What you will be doing:

    + Construct, install, repair, and maintain wooden structures, furniture, cabinetry, and other fixtures.

    + Perform finish carpentry work, including sanding, staining, and sealing.

    + Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.

    + Inspect and assess existing structures for repair or replacement needs.

    + Operate and maintain woodworking tools and equipment safely and effectively.

    + Collaborate with other departments (horticulture, operations, guest services, etc.) on special projects as needed.

    + Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and Magnolia’s standards for quality and guest experience.

    + Assist in maintaining inventory of carpentry supplies and materials, placing orders as necessary.

    + Provide input on design and functionality of custom pieces to enhance the property’s guest experience.

    + Represents a team-player spirit when assigned other duties as required.

    Requirements

    Who you are:

    + Proven experience as a carpenter; experience in historic or custom woodwork preferred.

    + Ability to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.

    + Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    + Physical stamina and the ability to lift, climb, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

    + Experience working in historic properties, gardens, or hospitality environments.

    + Knowledge of preservation techniques for historic woodwork.

    + Commitment to Magnolia’s pillars of history, horticulture, and nature.

    Physical Requirements:

    + Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift objects up to 50 lbs.

    + Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
